30 Day Book Challenge, Day 5

Nothing really interesting to write about today. Except that I need to figure out how to balance library books with books I own. I have a ton I want to read before the end of the year, but I have a few I really want to read from the library. I was trying to figure out some sort of reward system, but I really can’t put my finger on how to make it work. Suggestions welcome!

Day Five: A Book You Wish You Could Live In?

Considering most books have a Big Bad that is trying to eat the world, or at least the main character… I am very torn on this. I am, once again, tempted to answer with Harry Potter, but I think my enjoyment of living in that world would hinge entirely on me being a wizard. (Well, a witch actually, but I digress). And I don’t know if I can specify that. It would have to be a world/book where plumbing is a regular thing. I like hot showers too much to give them up. That alone knocks half of my “Books I’ve Read” list out of commission, because most of what I read is high fantasy set in medieval times. I also like historical fiction, so that doesn’t help.

I am really torn on this one.

Oh! I know! Not too horrible of a bad guy, hot showers, and LITERATURE!

The Neverending Story by Michael Ende

I was always kind of an outcast growing up, so this book sang to me. Escaping into books? And literally! Not just in the figurative way I had found to do it. This is a book I like to reread over and over again. My copy is tattered and worn. And talking about it makes me want to reread it yet again, gosh darn it! Losing yourself to find yourself… just. AH! SO GOOD! If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it. If you have, you better like it, or I will no longer be your friend. (I’m kidding!)

Given the choice, I’d rather have my life… but if I absolutely had to live in a book, I think this would be it. How about you?
